ANDMA Initiates Distribution of Cash and Non-Food Aid for 356 Affected Families in Nangarhar’s Dara-e-Noor District

Today in morning; Saturday, the Director General of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority, His Excellency Mullah Nooruddin Turabi, visited Qala-e-Shahi village in Dara-e-Noor District of Nangarhar Province. During his visit, he initiated the distribution of cash and non-food aid for 356 families affected by the recent earthquake.
The assistance was provided in collaboration with Save the Children, the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
During his meeting with the earthquake-affected families, His Excellency Turabi stated, “Although this aid may not be sufficient, please accept it for now. We are making efforts to provide further assistance and are working tirelessly, both through the Islamic Emirate and in collaboration with partner organizations, to ensure permanent shelters for you.”
As part of the aid distribution process:
- Save the Children Organisation provided each family with a hygiene kit, a tarpaulin sheet, and tools for home construction. Additionally, 300 of the affected families each received 20,500 AFN in cash.
- NRC Organisation distributed 20,500 AFN in cash to each of 55 families.
- IOM provided 8,800 AFN in cash to each of the 356 families, and 317 of these families each received a tent.
- UNFPA Organisation distributed a tarpaulin sheet, a blanket, and hygiene kits for women to each family.
On the same occasion, representatives from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and Save the Children expressed their gratitude to Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority, particularly the Nangarhar Provincial Disaster Management Directorate, for their cooperation and coordination in facilitating the aid distribution.
