Chinese Embassy and Business Community in Afghanistan Provide Cash Assistance to Earthquake Victims in Kunar Province

Today in afternoon, the Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority of Afghanistan received cash assistance from the Chinese Embassy and Chinese business community for the earthquake-affected people of Kunar Province. The handover took place during a press conference, where Mr. Hajji Mohammad Alam Alamyar, the General Director of Finance and Administration of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority, accepted the aid from Mr. Bao Shuohui, the Chargé d'Affaires of the People’s Republic of China in Afghanistan.
Welcoming the delegation, Mr. Alamiyar expressed heartfelt gratitude for China’s cooperation and assistance, stating, “We deeply appreciate the support of the People’s Republic of China. China is a true friend and neighbor of Afghanistan, consistently standing by our people in times of hardship. We maintain friendly relations with China in all sectors.”
Mr. Alamiyar further noted that ANDMA’s Director-General, along with highly skilled and equipped technical teams, is currently present in the earthquake-affected areas, actively engaged in search, rescue, and relief operations. He emphasized that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has mobilized all available resources to assist the victims and has established full coordination with national and international aid organizations to ensure effective support delivery.
Subsequently, Mr. Mawlawi Fazl-ul-Bari Jawad, the Director of ANDMA’s Office, thanked the delegation for their solidarity and added, “We request China’s urgent assistance in providing medical supplies, food, non-food items, and temporary and permanent shelters for the recent earthquake victims.”
Mr. Burhanuddin Shinwari, the head of International Relations, highlighted that the Chinese Embassy was the first to express solidarity and pledge support for the Kunar tragedy, stating, “We are deeply grateful for their prompt response and commitment.”
In his remarks, Mr. Bao Shuohui expressed solidarity with the people of Afghanistan during this tragedy, noting that the President of China had conveyed condolences at the recent Asian Leaders’ Summit. He added that China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement emphasizing the need to support Afghanistan’s earthquake victims during these challenging times.
Mr. Bao Shuohui officially handed over a cash contribution of USD 40,810 from the Chinese Embassy’s diplomats and Chinese companies operating in Afghanistan to the NDMA.
Additionally, representatives of Chinese companies in Afghanistan announced that relief supplies would be dispatched to the earthquake-affected areas of Kunar Province in two large trucks tonight. They further stated that additional food and non-food aid is being prepared for the victims.
In conclusion, Mr. Alamiyar presented certificates of appreciation to the Chinese Chargé d'Affaires and representatives of Chinese companies, expressing gratitude for their generous support and cooperation.
