The Director General of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority met with the Head of the Humanitarian and Development Assistance Coordination Agency for Afghans and officials from several International and National Partner Organization
Today, on Sunday, the Director General of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority, Alhaj Mullah Nooruddin Turabi, held a meeting with Ms. Namik Heidroff, the Head of the Humanitarian and Development Assistance Coordination Agency for Afghans; Mr. Tarjei Vatneødegård, the Country Director of the Norwegian Afghanistan Committee; and representatives of various international and national organizations. The meeting took place in the presence of Molvi Abdul Rahman Rahmani, ANDMA’s Director of International Relations, during which the participants discussed issues related to disaster management.
Alhaj Turabi Sahb warmly welcomed the officials of all partner organizations, briefed them on the Authority’s activities, achievements and future plans and emphasized that regular coordination among organizations can significantly enhance the quality and effectiveness of humanitarian and development services, particularly in ensuring rapid assistance reaches affected families.
He further added that ANDMA is fully committed to work and service in all its sectors. “We and you,” he said, “must implement preventive projects alongside the provision of food and non-food items to the Afghan people, so that with minimal cost we can prevent major losses. We assure all organizations that wherever your work is delayed in any ministry or province, we will cooperate with you fully within the framework of established principles.”
Subsequently, on behalf of all participating organizations, Mr. Hamidullah Ahmadi, the Deputy Head of the Humanitarian and Development Assistance Coordination Agency for Afghans, thanked the Director General and the ANDMA team. He stated that international and national organizations are satisfied with the cooperation provided by ANDMA in supporting the Afghan people and managing disasters, and they wish to further strengthen this partnership. He emphasized that joint planning, information sharing, and preventive programs against risks are of fundamental importance for the effective implementation of assistance.
Thereafter, Mr. Tarjei Vatneødegård, the Country Director of the Norwegian Afghanistan Committee, extended special thanks to the entire ANDMA team, noting that complete transparency has been achieved in the Authority’s operations and that his organization maintains full coordination with ANDMA.
Representatives of all organizations present pledged to continue their technical and practical support for improving the lives of the Afghan people.
The meeting concluded with a strong emphasis on further strengthening joint cooperation, planning future joint programs, and enhancing practical coordination.
