The Director General of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority Travels to Inspect a Slipping Mountain Section on the Kabul-Jalalabad Highway
This morning, on Sunday, Honorable Alhaj Mullah Nooruddin Turabi, the General Director of Afghanistan Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA), accompanied by Alhaj Mullah Gull Mohammad (Haji Kaka), the Governor of Nangarhar; the Honorable Mufti Mohammad Yusuf Jamalzai, Deputy Governor of Laghman Province; the Honorable Qari Khair Mohammad Ghazi, Director of Disaster Management for Laghman Province; the Honorable Qari Dad Mohammad Husseini, Director of Disaster Management for Nangarhar Province; the Honorable Hafiz Mohammad Yusuf Hammad, Director of Information and Publications; the Honorable Qari Nooruddin Rustamkhil, Director of Coordination for Mine Clearance; engineers from the authority; technical officials from the Aga Khan Foundation for Habitat, the CWSA organization; and heads of various departments, visited and inspected the slipping mountain section along the Kabul-Jalalabad highway in the Deem Kasi area of Qarghayi District, Laghman Province.
In a meeting held with the relevant officials, the Honorable Alhaj Turabi Sahb stated that while we are working on providing relief to those affected, our priority is the implementation of preventive projects that can save people's lives and property, as this is far more cost-effective.
After inspecting the aforementioned site and consulting with the Governor of Nangarhar and the relevant officials, the General Director noted that this section of the mountain poses a serious threat to the lives of travelers and that the demolition work must begin as soon as possible. He instructed the concerned officials that, given the high traffic volume on this highway, the demolition of this mountain section must be carried out swiftly to avoid causing inconvenience to travelers.
It is worth mentioning that the safe demolition work on this mountain section will practically commence on Tuesday.
