An MoU for Joint Cooperation was Signed Between ANDMA and DRC, Valued at $1,226,303

Today in morning, the Acting Head of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority, Honorable Mullah Nooruddin Turabi, met with Ms. Hannah Rose Holloway, Head of Mine Action Programs at the Danish Refugee Council (DRC), and her accompanying delegation at his office. During the meeting, a memorandum of understanding for joint cooperation was signed.
At the outset, Alhaj Turabi Sahb welcomed Ms. Holloway and her delegation, stating that the people of Afghanistan are currently in greater need of humanitarian assistance than ever before. He urged national and international organizations to deliver aid promptly and transparently to those in need.
In response, Ms. Holloway expressed gratitude to Alhaj Turabi Sahb for allocating time for the meeting and provided detailed insights into her organization’s project. She emphasized that the DRC would implement the project with utmost transparency and efficiency.
The MoU, valued at $1,226,303, was signed between the two parties. Under this agreement, a total of 478,868 square meters of land contaminated with improvised explosive devices (IEDs) will be cleared across 13 districts in Kandahar province. This initiative will directly benefit 1,804 individuals and indirectly support 5,032 others.
Additionally, in the hypothetical location of Spin Boldak district in Kandahar, Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) teams will conduct public awareness programs on the dangers of mines and explosive remnants.
Furthermore, cash assistance will be distributed to 80 victims of mines and explosives across various districts of the province.
Moreover, over 400 vulnerable individuals, including those affected by explosive remnants, natural disasters, and returnees to Kandahar, will receive support for income-generating activities and social assistance.
