The Acting Head of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority met with DACAAR Organization Officials

On Sunday afternoon, the Acting Head of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority, Alhaj Mullah Nooruddin Turabi, met with a delegation from the DACAAR Organization, including Engineer Abdul Wali Musleh, Head of Coordination and Technical Department, Haroon Bashiri, Proposal Officer, Faridullah, Communications Officer and Amir Hussain, Emergency Situations Advisor.
During the meeting, Alhaj Turabi Sahb welcomed the DACAAR delegation and stated that Afghanistan requires assistance in various sectors and provinces. He noted that since the international community does not provide direct aid, ANDMA will ensure full facilitation for organizations to deliver assistance to the people of Afghanistan.
The Acting Head of ANDMA elaborated that the authority is divided into five departments: prevention, preparedness, response, disaster risk reduction and reconstruction, with prevention being the most critical as it significantly reduces human and material losses. He further mentioned that ANDMA maintains a database with information on high-risk areas and its engineers are currently conducting village-by-village surveys in provinces to identify vulnerable areas. He assured the delegation that ANDMA is fully prepared to cooperate with DACAAR and other organizations on any projects in any province.
Meanwhile, Engineer Abdul Wali Musleh and his colleagues expressed gratitude for the opportunity to discuss and provided an overview of DACAAR’s work. They explained that the organization operates in the fields of agriculture, irrigation, healthcare, water supply networks and disaster management. Mr. Musleh added that DACAAR is currently working on a project funded by the European Union (ECHO), aimed at enhancing public preparedness for natural disasters.
Mr. Musleh emphasized that since ANDMA is a key stakeholder in this project’s sector, DACAAR seeks to design and prepare its proposal based on NDMA’s recommendations to ensure the project can be implemented effectively and efficiently in the future.
