The Acting Head of ANDMA Meets with UN-OCHA Head

Today On Sunday, Alhaj Mullah Nooruddin Turabi, the Acting Head of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority, met with Ms. Isabelle, the Head of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN-OCHA) in Afghanistan, at his office.
Alhaj Turabi Sahb warmly welcomed the OCHA delegation, expressing his satisfaction with the ongoing cooperation between the two entities. He stated, "We are delighted to collaborate with you and are continuously striving to assist affected families through various means and ensure they receive timely support."
The Head of the Authority also urged the OCHA delegation to encourage all humanitarian organizations to carry out impactful work to ensure the effective utilization of aid.
He further highlighted the severe drought affecting the residents of Darinur District in Badghis Province, noting that they lack access to water. He warned that without immediate intervention, approximately 2,750 families may be forced to abandon their homes. Alhaj Turabi Sahb emphasized that requests for assistance have already been made to various institutions to address this crisis.
In response, Ms. Isabelle, the Head of OCHA, commended Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority for the swift pace of its operations, stating, "We are grateful for your efforts in advancing work efficiently." She acknowledged that, compared to previous years, OCHA's budget has decreased, but affirmed their commitment to providing timely assistance to affected families. Ms. Isabelle added that OCHA prepares an annual plan with allocated budgets for various sectors and assured that the drought issue in Badghis Province would be raised with other humanitarian organizations.
In conclusion, both parties pledged to work together to address existing challenges.
