The Director General of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority Met with Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Afghanistan

Today On Wednesday morning, Alhaj Mullah Nooruddin Turabi, the Director General of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority, met at his office with H.E. Aybek Usmanov, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Afghanistan, and Mr. Bahadur, the Economic and Political Deputy of the Uzbek Embassy. The two sides discussed humanitarian assistance and disaster management.

Alhaj Turabi Sahb began by welcoming the Uzbek delegation. He highlighted that the two countries share deep religious, cultural, and geographical ties, and expressed his desire for bilateral relations to continue strengthening in an atmosphere of brotherhood and friendship. He thanked Uzbekistan for its humanitarian aid and noted that due to climate change, the frequency and impact of natural disasters in Afghanistan have increased significantly, thereby raising the level of needs in the country.

The Director General stated that Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority is the leading government body responsible for disaster management across Afghanistan. One of its core functions is to receive and distribute assistance to those affected by disasters. He emphasized that all aid received from donor countries is delivered to all 34 provinces in a transparent, swift, and organized manner, and is distributed directly to those who deserve it.

In response, Ambassador Aybek Usmanov described the two nations as good neighbors and friends in difficult times. He said Uzbekistan has provided humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people during disasters in the past. He stressed that Uzbekistan’s aid is intended for all Afghans and that his country is keen to explore further avenues for cooperation and increased humanitarian support during emergencies.

The Uzbek Ambassador reaffirmed his country’s commitment to continued bilateral cooperation and declared Uzbekistan’s readiness to provide humanitarian assistance in times of disaster.

At the end of the meeting, both sides expressed their commitment to further developing friendly relations and mutual cooperation, and exchanged gifts.
