An MoU for Joint Cooperation was Signed Between ANDMA and the Civil Society Organization for Justice Advocacy and Empowerment Worth 571,717 Dollars
Earlier this morning on Sunday, Honorable Alhaj Mullah Nooruddin Turabi, the Director General of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority, met in his office with the Honorable Abdul Halim Halim, the Director General of the Civil Society Institute for Justice Advocacy and Empowerment, and signed a Memorandum of Understanding for joint cooperation with him.
In this meeting, Honorable Turabi Sahb stated that, given climate change, rainfall in the country could lead to flash floods. To this end, we have initiated the cleaning of flood channels in various provinces and request that you also strive, in discussions with donors, to shift the method of providing aid from humanitarian to foundational, as the implementation of preventive projects is far more effective for donors, institutions, and the people compared to the provision of food and non-food aid.
Meanwhile, Honorable Abdul Halim Halim, the Director General of the aforementioned institute, expressed special gratitude to the Director General of this authority for the speed of operations in its affairs and stated that for this very reason, we are interested in implementing two additional projects that we plan to undertake in the future in collaboration with Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority.
It is noteworthy that, in conclusion, the Memorandum of Understanding for joint cooperation, with a total value of five hundred seventy-one thousand seven hundred seventeen (571,717) dollars, was signed between the two parties. Under this agreement, the aforementioned institute—whose donor is UNICEF—will provide the following services to those affected by the recent earthquake in Kunar Province:
1. Preparation of 60 drinking water storage units with all related services, each with a capacity of 5 cubic meters of water, and water transportation for them via 900 tankers.
2. Rehabilitation of 6 water supply networks capable of serving 8,000 people.
3. Physical and biological testing of drinking water.
4. Construction of 180 latrines and bathrooms, of which 150 units will be metallic and 30 units will be made of tarpaulin; enclosure of women's latrines and bathrooms with green curtains; and maintenance and care of the latrines and bathrooms.
5. Procurement and transportation of 40 accessible toilet seats for persons with disabilities.
6. Installation of 5 Conex latrine and bathroom sets in temporary accommodation camps, evacuation of wastewater from areas related to the camps, and management of excess solid waste in the areas.
7. Electrical wiring for 200 latrines.
8. Provision of hot water systems for latrines and bathrooms.
9. Installation of 115 emergency handwashing stations.
10. Distribution of 5,000 UNICEF hygiene kits.
