Today in afternoon, Wednesday, His Excellency Mulla Nooruddin Turabi, the Director General of Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority, met with His Excellency Engineer Abdul Habib Tahrik, Executive Director of the Afghan Youth Services Organisation, at his office and signed two MoUs.
Alhaj Turabi Sahb, referring to the provisions of the agreements, stated, "We are very keen to transform aid from short-term and superficial measures to long-term and infrastructural initiatives. This approach strengthens infrastructure through community participation and delivers assistance to the people effectively." He further added, "We are fully committed to providing necessary facilities and comprehensive cooperation to organizations that seek to assist communities in any sector without delay."
Meanwhile, Engineer Abdul Habib Tahrik, the Executive Director of the Organization, expressed gratitude for the authority’s cooperation while outlining ongoing projects. He also pledged to implement the terms of the agreements swiftly and transparently.
In conclusion, both parties signed two memoranda of understanding worth a total of $508,944. Under the first agreement, valued at $322,903, the aforementioned institute will conduct training workshops in the city of Ghazni and the districts of Muqur and Andar in Ghazni province; the city of Pul-e-Alam and the districts of Baraki Barak and Mohammad Agha in Logar province; the city of Gardez and the districts of Zazi, Jani Khel, Zurmat and Sayed Karam in Paktika province; and the city of Khost and the districts of Sabari, Qalandar and Musa Khel in Khost province. These workshops aim to equip local communities with the skills to develop local development plans, which the UNDP plans to implement in vulnerable areas in the coming years. Additionally, in the provinces of Khost, Logar, and Paktika, the institute will establish 15 sports fields, organize 3 tournaments, and install 421 waste bins in the cities of Khost and Paktia to promote urban cleanliness.
Under the second agreement, valued at $186,041, the institute will provide support in the city of Ghazni and the Jaghori district of Ghazni province, the city of Pul-e-Alam in Logar province, and the city of Khost. Specifically, 105 individuals who have completed professional workshops organized by the International Labour Organization will each receive $780 to enhance their economic stability and provide work tools. Additionally, 60 rehabilitated former addicts will each receive $1,342 to create small businesses, participate in workshops, and acquire work tools.
